Where should your out-of-town guests stay? Quite often, price is the first consideration when choosing a hotel to recommend to your guests. Here are six other areas to consider:

Shop amenities and nearby services. Take into consideration your guests individual demographics, such as age, children and income. Nearby services should include drug store, retail shopping, restaurants, churches, and hospital accessibility. Does the hotel have an indoor pool, workout facility, full service restaurant, and local transportation availability.

Cut-off date for room block. Hotels will include a date 2-3 weeks before your wedding in which your discounted rate will no longer be available or guaranteed. Check if the hotel will honor the room rates after the cut-off if rooms are still available.

50/50 rooms. Select a hotel that will guarantee they will hold 50% of your rooms with two beds, and 50% of your rooms with King beds. This proportion will allow your guests the most flexibility.

Number of rooms to hold. The industry standard is the 10% rule. There is a direct proportion in the number of wedding guests to the number of rooms booked. If you are having 200 guests, you will need approximately 20 rooms.

All guests will not be on the same floor. It is virtually impossible for the hotel to guarantee that all guests will be on the same floor. Too many variables come into play; room type, smoking or non-smoking rooms, and when other guests are checking out.

Transportation. Shop nearby car rental agencies and transportation services to help get your guests to the wedding. The hotels have vans available for local transportation, but you shouldn't count on them to transport your guests to the wedding.
